Are you a QA Engineer who thrives on quality and has an attention to detail that borders on obsession? Great! We could use your eye for detail to build and scale one of the most interesting sites in the world.

Like our wikis and communities, Wikia is passionate, high-energy and collaborative. Wikia is one of the largest "creative commons" sites in the world, as we maintain over 300,000 wikis across an impressive array of subjects, spanning all aspects of entertainment, gaming, and lifestyle. We are rated as a Quantcast Top 50, ComScore Top 100, and Nielsen Top 10 Social Media Site and are read by over 70 million unique visitors a month. Wikia was founded in 2004 by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley, and is headquartered in a brightly colored SOMA office in San Francisco, CA.

This role requires a commitment to quality and precision across our massive platform that is fast moving and globally distributed. Writing test plans and executing against them will help us achieve high-quality low-error work. As an integral member of the SF engineering team you will have deep engagement with our product development team and Poland based QA engineers. One of the most important aspects of this role will be establishing QA practices for our SF office while staying in sync with the Polish QA team. Immediate tasks will include testing video features and players across our site to make sure all aspects remain functional during updates. You will test all features in various browsers, devices, and operating systems to ensure consistency.

You are a self-starter who has better-than-excellent communication skills and your colleagues would describe you as outgoing, flexible, and diplomatic. At least 2 years of your career have been spent in QA and some of that time was web based testing. Good judgment comes naturally - aka you’re not telling our engineers to jump ship over a tiny bug. You’re capable of manual testing, familiar with browser testing tools, and have possibly worked with some bug tracking system. If you don’t already know automated testing, you’re open to learning. Major bonus points for experience with Agile and Scrum but if not, you’ll get to know this quickly through daily scrum meetings.

Unlike most startups, our exciting platform is also coupled with a strong work life balance. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the revenue stream of the company, technology, and products, while having fun. For your expertise, we will offer a competitive base salary, full benefits, and big play on equity. Our dog-friendly digs are located in the SOMA area of San Francisco (between BART and CalTrain), come with a stocked pantry, a gaming room, and we also offer lunch hour yoga classes. If you enjoy pop culture and gaming, working for Wikia will allow you to work on what you love.
