Verifies repair specifications to determine conformance with applicable standards and drawings. Certifies test fixture per drawings and functional operation.
High School graduate. Civilian trade school or military technical school training which included basic and advanced electronics. Knowledge of mechanical/electrical drawings plus general shop methods. Five years specific and related experience to include Central Repair Facility electronics technician experience, quality control experience, and working with USPS Standard 110 and repair specifications prepared in accordance with that document. A qualified candidate must be able to:
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Operate a personal computer with windows applications (basic typing skills desired)
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and employees of private organizations.
Perform inspections on all types of repair specifications, test fixtures and schematic drawings.
Understand the interrelationship of complex circuits in performance of duties.
Exercise independent judgment in performing circuit analysis, calculating waveforms, and tracing relationship in signal flow.
Understand digital/analog circuits in detail, as well as microprocessor controller systems and computer operations.
Identify discrepancies per standards and express findings in reports.
Determine if complex technical specifications are in accordance with commercial standards.
Determine if the technical data provided will allow the specific fault to be identified.
Determine if specification and the test fixture leads to the function where the fault lies.
Insert faults into the unit under test without damage to associated circuits. Initiate reports and keep records according to job requirements.
Perform tests on automatic test equipment and regularly use complex test equipment in performance of duties. Understand the quality control procedures used at the Central Repair Facility.
Lift, some times heavy items, during the work day.
