Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of various quality programs and systems designed to assure product wholesomeness and consistency. Stay abreast of development in the quality field, upgrading Dianne's Fine Desserts programs as necessary and appropriate. Interact with other managerial disciplines including Production, Warehouse, Procurement, Maintenance, Finance, and Sales to address issues affecting the quality of ingredients and packaging supplies, in-process components and finished goods. Act as the liaison with international, federal, state, and local regulatory agencies to handle legal and other issues. Work with customers coordinating and conducting inspections and audits and addressing concerns as they arise.
Accountable for developing and managing the QA budget.
Manage the day-to-day activities of the Quality Department. Coordinate the activities of the QA & Food Safety Compliance Coordinator, Quality Assurance Supervisors and Quality hourly personnel.
Ensure the on-going training and development of QA employees.
Participate in the GFSI/FSSC22000 yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions
Conduct periodic internal inspections and audits of the facility as part of a continuous improvement program designed to assure product safety and consistency, and to disclose areas needing improvement before an external/customer audit/inspection is conducted.
Follow up with the department managers to ensure documented corrective actions are taken.
Coordinate and evaluate outside audits with corporate staff, regulatory agencies, and customers. Escort auditors through the facility. With the assistance and cooperation of other department managers, develop and implement corrective actions for external inspections. Provide all documentation necessary to respond to inspections
Coordinate lot tracking exercises and actual product withdrawals. Verify that Dianne's Fine Desserts Le Center is able to track the ingredients to the finished product level and 100% of the finished products to the first level of distribution. Working with the Distribution and Production Managers, evaluate and develop corrective actions from the lot tracking exercises to ensure that accurate information is obtained in a timely manner from the appropriate department managers
Maintain product specifications and standards and MRP requirements, and coordinate new product rollout with R & D and production departments
Coordinate the testing of incoming ingredients and finished products. Organize and interpret results of the lab and quality evaluation of incoming ingredients, work-in-process and finished products to ensure substandard ingredients and products are NOT utilized in the operation NOR released to customers
Working with R&D and Production Planning to complete the administrative tasks regarding Product Specifications and Standards
Respond to customer complaints and initiate plan level investigations into the cause(s). Provide management with routine complaint summaries outlining complaint frequencies
Educate managers, supervisors and employees regarding internal quality programs and helping to ensure Dianne's Fine Desserts has a well-educated and trained workforce
Provide technical guidance to managers, supervisors and employees.
Manage the ON HOLD program to prevent substandard materials or products from reaching the consumer. Develop summaries outlining product defect frequencies and trouble-shooting methods to reduce defect levels
Coordinate with procurement the Minimum Requirements for Vendors to maintain incoming component consistency
Develop and maintain the annual and period Quality Department budgets, monitor spending levels to ensure compliance to budgetary requirements, and keep management appraised of variances from the budgetary guidelines
Interact with various departments including Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, R & D, HR, Finance, Sales, and Retail
Hire, train, evaluate, coach, and discipline employees to maintain proper staffing and competency levels. Assure the safety and security of employees, property and proprietary company information
Order various equipment, tools and other supplies necessary for the Quality Department to complete its tasks
Oversee generate continuous improvement with the internal auditing program for the facility
