We are looking for a talented and passionate QA Manager to join our team and help take Proofpoint product quality to the next level. We are looking for a “hands on” QA Manager to help lead, mentor and serve a talented QA group (with a focus on automation). A background as a software engineer that has chosen a QA career path and has evolved into a leadership position is ideal (i.e., this is a very technical role). You will need experience in supervising and working with QA Analysts and SDET’s, with a track record of improving the overall quality of the software being delivered and strengthening the technical acumen of the testing group.

Responsibilities include:
  • Be a "hands on" QA Manager
  • Lead, mentor and serve a talented QA group (with a focus on automation)
  • Improve the overall quality of all products
  • Decrease the hardening time to release products
  • 7+ years of professional QA & SDET experience with 2+ years management experience, building QA teams in startup companies or within Fortune 500 environments
  • Successful track record designing, implementing, and managing highly-structured test automation and change management efforts of large-scale, highly-available enterprise systems (experience with clusters, distributed systems, NoSQL, Big Data, etc. is a strong plus)
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum team, including iterative development and continuous integration via Scrum in a matrix environment
  • Strong technical grasp of software architectures, complex data structures, multi-threading, and performance tuning with prior software development skills—including unit testing and test automation tools and frameworks in Java, C#, C++, Ruby, Shell Scripting (Sed/Awk, PERL, etc.) or other scripting languages
  • Excellent communication and soft skills, including prior experience in presenting proposals and participating in staff meetings to help drive technical initiatives
  • Bachelors degree in a technical field (CS preferred)
Preferred Skills and Technologies:
  • Experience building libraries of test suites, test cases, and test plans based on vague or incomplete software requirements
  • Experience with VersionOne, Jira, or other Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) or SDLC tools and applications
  • Experience with testing SOAP/REST and other XML-based Web Services
  • Familiarity with front-end development standards, including HTML, CSS and JavaScript (Ajax) from a testing perspective
  • Experience with testing applications running on Windows OS
