It is our Vision to rethink, redefine and reset the standard of care for pathology groups and laboratories in the country.SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Specialist (QA Specialist) oversees all quality assurance and accreditation or certifying agency regulatory activities of the Company. The QA specialist works with department and division supervisors and managers to see that documentation, procedures and policies are fully in compliance with CLIA and CAP Accreditation requirements at all sites. This individual will also act as a resource for supervisors for their department/division competency assessment systems and record keeping. This individual must problem-solve difficult situations with strong customer service skills. This is an exempt position.POSITIONS MANAGED The QA Specialist does not directly supervise the work of any other staff. He/She may be asked to provide input on annual and semi-annual performance evaluations of supervisors, managers and staff.POSITION IMPACT Position is directly responsible for: Evaluating and documenting the department and division quality assurance standards Oversight and standardization of the company's document control system Advising supervisors, division managers and pathology staff about effective anatomic pathology QA practices and certification compliance Position is responsible in collaboration with division and department supervisors and pathologists for evaluating, documenting and improving: Quality assurance performance Employee competency assessmentsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Coordinates with all regulatory agencies (CAP, CLIA, state specific medical test site agencies, etc.) regarding applications, inspections and works with supervisors on appropriate documentation, procedures and policies. Oversees and directs all aspects of the company's document control system. Will be expected to be a high level, expert user of the system and able to teach other users. Acts as the primary staff support of the Company Quality Assurance Committee and works in close collaboration with the chairperson. Acts as a resource/internal expert for supervisors in developing training modules and competency assessments. Demonstrates excellent problem solving, change management, and analytic skills. Works with supervisors to ensure CAP/CLIA accreditation standards are met including proficiency testing at all division sites. Schedules and participates in CAP self-inspections at all division sites. As time allows participates on-site in all CAP and CLIA inspections. Assumes other duties as delegated by the Medical Director and Laboratory Manager. Demonstrates exceptional understanding of the elements that support high quality work processes, training and quality assurance. Demonstrates general knowledge of pathological and physiological conditions that affect test results and tissue staining. Recognizes and troubleshoots both routine and complex problems, identify root causes and assist department staff with technical problems. Direct and modify quality control measures to assure consistently high quality and take immediate and proper action when necessary. Performs mid-year (off year) inspections. Keeps current with all QA related federal and state laws and regulations. Must be able to express himself/herself effectively both in written and verbal communications. Must have own transportation and be able to move to multiple Company sites as needed Able to accept guidance and constructive criticism. Displays a mature and professional attitude, is honest, and has a strong sense of responsibility toward patients and clients.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Requirements: MT(ASCP), HTL (ASCP) or HT (ASCP), CT (ASCP), PA (ASCP), Canadian or foreign registered with 4 year college degree. ASCP QA Specialty experience preferred Experience with certification/accreditation through CAP. Experience with LEAN/Six Sigma helpful. Highly proficient user of MSWord, MSExcel, MSAccess and other IT software tools.IMPORTANT NOTICES As a healthcare organization we are committed to providing a healthy and safe environment.
