DESCRIPTION

GENERAL FUNCTION: Develops and schedules, with student input, recreational and avocation activities to fill the leisure time hours of both residential and non-residential students in accordance with PRH Chapter 3; 3.18 Recreation and Leisure Time Activities. Supervises students involved in recreational activities both on and off center. Schedules, organizes and participates with students in intramural sports competition between all dormitories.

DUTIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Organizes, schedules, and conducts recreational activities for students, both on and off center. 2. Supervises student utilization of recreational facilities to ensure student safety, facility and equipment maintenance, and ensure adequate supplies are available for all planned and scheduled activities.3. Supervises students and document student attendance at special events on and off center.4. Participates in planning, implementing and controlling varsity and intramural sports programs as assigned.5. Coaches one or more sports and/or conducts an Arts and Crafts Program as individual student talents and interest dictate.6. Conducts new student tour of recreational facilities and explains the use of recreational facilities and equipment.7. Shows video presentations on water safety during new students Career Preparation Period and ensures students are scheduled and complete Water Safety Proficiency Testing as required.8. Conducts interviews and complete surveys with students to identify interests and talents.9. Trains and supervises Recreation Leaders and Recreation Aides.10. Operates passenger vans and manual/automatic transmission buses to transport students for off center recreational activities.OTHER FUNCTIONS: 1. Exhibits behaviors and best practices that are consistent with the vision and values of the company.2. Practices social skills and behavior management with students and staff that are consistent with the Job Corps Career Success Standards and Behavior Management System.3. Practices safe work habits to eliminate and control potential safety and health hazards and to maintain a safe workplace environment. Attends all required safety training as scheduled.4. Works as part of the team to assure that Performance Outcome Measurement System goals are achieved.5. Models, supports and integrates employability skills, attitude and knowledge into all phases of career development for students.6. Operates Center vehicles to provide transportation for students as assigned/needed.7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by designated and/or authorized staff. QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor Degree with concentration in Recreation, Physical Education, or Health Education preferred and experience in a recreational program, which provides services to at-risk youth or related field preferred.ORAn Associate Degree with a concentration in Recreation, Physical Education, or Health Education and experience in a recreational program which provides services to at-risk youth or related field preferred.NOTE: * Safe driving record required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Effective verbal and written communication skills.Effective organizational skillsEffective interpersonal skillsLicenses or Certificates: State Commercial Driver License is required.
