We have an exciting, direct placement opportunity for a Chemist with a Chemical Sterilization company located in the Orange County Area. Position Summary: The QC Supervisor will effectively supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in inspecting raw and finished materials to maintain and ensure adherence to quality standards and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will manage the evaluation and testing of all incoming raw materials, bulk products, in-process materials and finished product prior to release to production, or for distribution, SOP's and Quality Systems. Responsibilities include:
Oversee the efficient implementation of quality standards, programs and processes to improve operational efficiencies and reduce/eliminate production waste, adjustments and hold product.
Develops, updates, and trains employees in SOP?s related to quality standards and process control.
Audits the manufacturing process for continuous improvement and adherence to SOP?s.
Maintains the quality management systems of the facility.
Develops appropriate quality laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with safety, EPA and all state and federal regulations.
Develops and recommends test procedures for products and raw materials and maintains test equipment.
Creates trend charts to see which formulas are systemic issues.
Maintains testing, calibration and quality control records.
Compile a monthly quality report which includes a summary of both internal and external quality issues raised.
Tests and analyzes sample products, adjusting formulas and processes based on results.
Manages adjustments to determine correct raw materials for batch/formula entry.
Works with supplier?s technical group regarding any ingredients specifications and quality issues.
Helps in maintaining plant certifications, including Kosher, NSF and EPA regulations.
Supervise quality control technicians. Education and Experience:
BA/BS degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
Minimum of five years experience in chemical or biological testing laboratory operations; three in a supervisory capacity.
Demonstrated success in any of the following industries: Chemical Distribution, Custom Blending, Chemical Manufacturing, or Process Manufacturing
Knowledge of wet analytical matters as well as instrumental methods including: spectroplotometic, GC, ICP and IR.
Demonstrated knowledge of good laboratory practices and ability to manage a QC laboratory safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good practices.
Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills
Exceptional problem solving skills.
Proficiency in windows based software programs and Microsoft Office.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of management and between departments.
