Cargill Dressings, Sauces & Oils refines vegetable and tropical oils and animal fat for a wide range of food and nonfood manufacturers. We also make shortenings, frying oils, mayonnaise, dressings, and sauces for the foodservice industry.
The business operates seven oil refineries, five shortening and oil packaging plants, a mayonnaise production facility, a dressings plant and a culinary sauce facility, all of which are located in the United States. We also operate an edible oil refinery in Mexico.
Customers include major food manufacturers and quick-service and casual-dining restaurant chains. Dressings Sauces & Oils is integrated with Cargill's soybean crushing activities, which provide a reliable source of crude soybean oil for further processing.
This role will assist the Business Unit Quality Assurance team by coordinating activities and documentation to ensure consistent, high quality response to internal and external customer requirements.
30% - Maintain, complete as needed, and distribute required QA/Food Safety documentation to customers and internally-PDS, TDS, CIS, nutritional info, MSDS, Kosher, regulatory compliance documentation, GMO statements, Letters of Guarantee, allergen info, export documents (country of origin, %composition etc.), plant info questionnaires/packets, 3rd party audits, audit plant corrective actions, certificate of liability insurance etc.
30% - Assist with new product and new ingredient set-up in QA/QC systems. Coordinate the New Product Specification Process as it pertains to the QA function and enter required information in Cargill and customer systems (as required).
25% - Assist in QA approval of raw materials and raw material suppliers. This includes: review and maintenance of supplier documents – Assist in managing the BU QA portion of supplier assessment program, which includes documents, required documents from suppliers such as specifications, nutritional, MSDS, Kosher, etc.; new supplier qualifications, audit schedules and risk assessment database.
10% - Assist BU QA with appropriate quality and food safety reports. Assist in maintaining all BU QA documentation on DSO websites
5% - Assist with projects within the structure of BU QA as needed. Back-up for other BU QA Coordinators (Oils Focus position and Food Safety Focus position). Other duties as assigned.
Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
Location: This position can be located in either Sidney, OH or Gainesville, GA.
A Bachelor’s degree OR 2+ years technical experience in the food industry and an Associate’s degree in a related scientific discipline OR 5+ years of technical experience in the food industry
Excellent organizational skills including time management, detail orientation and the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret quality process documentation
Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control concepts
Basic computer skills such as proficiency in Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).
Effective problem solving and decision making skills
Demonstrated teamwork and the ability to effectively collaborate with and to influence others outside of formal reporting relationships
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently
A Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a related scientific discipline, such as food science, chemistry, or microbiology)
Strong interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Cargill DSO systems (InterSpec, Adage, iCix) a plus.
Understanding of the manufacturing environment
Strong initiative in providing insightful observations for improvements
Knowledge in using a full range of statistical and analytical tools-e.g. conrol charts, histograms, capability studies
Basic understanding of food safety concepts such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs), labeling, food additives, sanitation, and food microbiology
