Position Description:
Crestron is looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Sr. Source Inspector. This position will report into our corporate Headquarters in Rockleigh, NJ, but will physically reside in Spiceland, Indiana. This position will support our growing Shading Solutions business unit.

The Quality Assurance Source Inspector (QASI) will serve as the key point person validating that process improvements have been implemented through Lean/Quality methodologies and be responsible for the monitoring and controlling of all quality related manufacturing, testing, and packaging operations. In addition this candidate will oversee the quality inspection teams at Draper in all Crestron work cells. This is a “Hands-on” Quality Assurance position responsible for accurate and timely inspections to support both Manufacturing and Delivery to demonstrate contract compliance.

Success in this function requires a solid understanding of the shading and/or textile manufacturing industry, have exceptional time management and communication skills to schedule and assure timely verifications, and to provide results and statuses of quality issues and corrective/preventative initiatives with an in-depth, on-the-floor problem solving approach.

Key Responsibilities:
Ultimately responsible for the overall quality of Crestron roller shades being manufactured at Crestrons Contract Manufacturer (Draper) in Spiceland, Indiana, following up with quality issues found in the field, working in tandem with Crestron Quality Engineering.
Generate, maintain and analyzes Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as to provide timely data usable for informed decision-making and drive continuous improvement through utilization tools such as Six Sigma DMAIC, 8D Root Cause Analysis and Lean Manufacturing concepts.
Work effectively with quality and production teams to eliminate any barriers that may affect the overall quality and delivery of products and to o versee all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring all steps are followed accurately - including but not limited to:
o Order entry process at Draper, including receipt of the Crestron order, and entry into Drapers order systems.
o Proper transmission of order to the production floor
o Validation of in-process inspection steps
o Pre-pack/pack out inspection
o Final inspection prior to shipping Assists in the development of PFMEA’s (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis) and control plans where required.
Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine quality metrics, and any pertinent corrective actions that may be required in the quest to produce high quality products.
Capture and regularly communicate lessons learned, best practices, recent findings, proposed process improvements and concerns related to potentially adverse end customer experiences.

Experience Requirements:
Must have 10 to 15 years experience in the field of window shades or a textile/assembly based manufacturing process. Familiarity with high end electronic manufacturing is a plus.
A strong understanding of the manufacturing processes surrounding the fabrics used in roller shades and also understand the root cause of the defects typically found with roller shade manufacturing.
Must understand the physical limitations of length and width of shades vs. the fabric types used.

Draper quality and manufacturing engineering Must be open to travel as needed. Solid understanding of receiving inspection processes including statistical sampling, component measurement techniques, specifications and drawings. Excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision making skills required with thorough working knowledge of Quality systems methods and practices (DOE, Control Plans, Lean Manufacturing concepts, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis, etc.). Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematics, block diagrams and Engineering Change Notices for the purpose of specific inspection criteria and evaluation. Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Proficient with a personal computer and selected software applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel (spread sheet - report formatting, graphing, V-lookup, Pivot), Access, and PowerPoint.

Education and Certification Requirements: Associates degree in Engineering or equivalent from and accredited institution i(Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Equivalent Discipline) ASQ certifications preferred but not required.
