The principal function of this position is to audit, inspect, record, and compile data relevant to food safety, regulatory compliance, and manufactured quality. Audits the plant processes according to the QCMS standard and reports results. Assist the Unit Supervisors in determining causes of product/process failures, process deviations, and variation.
*Audits HACCP records by signing off on Pre-shipment Record Reviews, which ensures that the paperwork is complete, accurate and product is acceptable for shipment.
*Monitors compliance to the SSOP program by auditing pre-operational inspections and housekeeping practices.
*Audits records by reviewing the manufacturing line process paperwork which relates to labeling, quality, and net weight to assure adherence to company specifications.
*Inspects raw materials by visual and sensory examination to assure that product is wholesome and meets company specifications.
*Retains product by using the Hold and Release Program which assures product of food safety concern (foreign objects, HACCP failures, and USDA pathogen testing) is not shipped to the public.
*Provides support to operation personnel by identifying adulterated product failure situations to assure all non-compliant product is retained.
*Take swabs in accordance with specifications for environmental monitoring to provide a microbial assessment of the environmental control program.
*Calibrate equipment and document findings in accordance with specifications to meet HACCP requirements.
*Monitors production areas for compliance with the QCMS standard.
BS degree in Food Science or other science related field required; 6 months experience in quality systems within a food manufacturing environment preferred; Strong team leadership skills; Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
