Quality Control Engineer I II & III

The Quality Control (Test) Engineer writes and maintains project Test Plans, Test Cases, Test Summary Reports, and other relevant test documentation (including test defect analysis reports), executes test cases according to project Test Plans, documents test defects in Defect Tracking Tool, reviews new or modified program, including documentation, diagram, and flowchart and monitors program performance after implementation. Basic Duties/Responsibilities
  • Evaluates and tests new or modified software programs and software development procedures used
  • Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to economically and efficiently attain quality of software
  • Reviews new or modified program, including documentation, diagrams, and flow charts, to determine if program will perform according to user request and conform to guidelines
  • Reviews computer operating log to identify program processing errors
  • Enters instructions into computer to test program for validity of results, accuracy, reliability, and conformance to establishment standards
  • Sets up tests at request of user to locate and correct program operating error following installation of program
  • Monitors program performance after implementation to prevent reoccurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation
  • Writes documentation to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction
  • Mentors QC Engineers I, II
Reporting Relationships
  • Position reports to: Quality Control Manager

  • College Degree in Computer Science, Information Management System or related field, and/or specialized training beyond high school
Experience Required:
  • Minimum one to three years of experience in software testing
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies and techniques
  • Federal Government project experience desired
  • Maintains current knowledge in latest software development methodologies and tools
  • Strong ability to analyze requirements and convert to detailed test cases (positive, negative, exceptions, etc.)
  • Mastery of software testing methodologies and techniques, such as front-end functional testing, system integration testing, performance and load testing
  • Ability to write test plans, cases and record/track defects
  • Ability to use current testing tools, such as Quality Center, Test Director, and LoadRunner
  • Understands latest software development methodologies
