The ideal QC Inspector candidate will be experienced in automotive parts inspection, experience with quality inspection tools, i.e. micrometers, PPAP, etc. You must have a strong quality focus since you are going to be the last person to inspect the parts before they are shipped out to the customer. Candidates with experience inspecting parts for GM will be given special consideration.
Receive, identify, inspect, measure, approve, automotive parts (preferably GM).
Interact with supervisor, QC techs, QC manager, Engineering Department regarding directions to follow and provide feedback on jobs.
Conduct PPAP samples frequently.
Complete all required records accurately, thoroughly and promptly.
Fill out Non-Conforming reports as necessary.
Document all inspection results, logging all deviations from specs appropriately and continually monitoring all parts in process
Follow quality protocols to accept or reject orders and process send them to either packing cell or 100% Inspection
Maintain inspection files properly identified with updated prints & work instructions.
Visually inspect all parts for defects (non-fill, split, etc.)
Interpret specifications, blueprints, assign job orders, and implement company policies and procedures.
Review efficiency rates of employees via ERP system and assist with standard rates review and calculation.
Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of department.
Ensure equipment is in good working condition; in the event of equipment failure, fill out maintenance work orders
Administer quality procedures (ISO 9001 / TS16949) by demonstrating knowledge of the quality manual and procedures, ensuring that quality procedures are followed by employees and completing nonconformities and corrective actions when necessary.
Provide reports to the Quality Manager (thorough documentation, a willingness to share ideas and the ability to accept constructive criticism is necessary).
REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTITUDE:
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interface well with other departments, and work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
Solid reasoning skills; define problems, gather data, determine facts and develop clear/valid conclusions.
Lean manufacturing, Kaizen and 5S experience or openness to embrace these techniques.
Basic computer skills, use of Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook.
Ability to work 1st shift and overtime when required.
Ability to read drawings, blueprints and other specifications
Familiarity with inspection devices such as optical comparator, calipers, micrometers, etc.
