Requirements:
Required Experience: 5 yrs professional experience in a lab Supervisor/Manager, Operator, Line Supervisor, Quality Auditor or Process Engineer

Preferred Experience: Cement or lime industry experience

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Sciences and/or mathematics, or Chemical or related engineering field.

Preferred Education: Chemistry or Chemical Engineering up to a Masters Deg.

External Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Manufacturing Improvement Director/Plant Manager, the Quality Control Manager is responsible for the corporate quality program development and management. Define, implement, communicate a comprehensive program and create a material review and disposition program. Partner with New Business Development on new product specifications. The Quality Manager will work closely with senior technical managers and the Plant Manager to monitor and help drive improvements in products and the production process. He/she will be able to interface with sales and customers in a positive manner to help solve problems and provide expected value to the customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

1. Strategic corporate quality program development and management 

Define, implement, communicate a comprehensive program
o Create a material review and disposition program. 
Liaison with New Business Development on new product specifications. 
Manage and maintain the quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods. 
Monitor performance by gathering data and producing statistical reports. 
Evaluates returned product and reports findings to department impacted. 
Able to quickly understand and evaluate product application and the production processes that affect product performance. 
Good understanding of test procedures and the science behind them.

2. Training and development 

Educate team members about plant quality control, assurance and awareness. 
Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated. 
Lead efforts to utilize continuous improvement tools on product quality throughout the organization.

3. Record keeping and compliance 

Ensure federal, state, and local agency compliance standards. 
Compile non-conformance data, including customer complaints in order to provide specific and global recommendations. 
Assess product specifications of company and its suppliers, and compare with the requirements of our customers.

4. Partner with internal and eternal customer and supplier audit activities. 

Able to work with sales and customers to present data and assist with customer reviews. 
Presentation skills and interpersonal skills are deemed to be vital in being able to establish a working relationship with both customers and our sales organization

ATTRIBUTES:
• Quality Engineer and Production Engineer experience required.
• Six sigma and lean manufacturing required.
• Working knowledge of industrial manufacturing procedures and equipment.
• Previous SAP Quality Assurance module experience preferred.
• Proficient in computer software applications for equipment control, data collection and analysis.
Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:
• Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
• Walking up and down stairs and ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
