Quality Control Technician
Location : Shelby Township, MI
Payroll Category: Non-Exempt
Payroll Status : Full-time / Seasonal
Sampling and testing of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) for compliance with MDOT and other Agency specifications. Testing will include all tests associated with the development of HMA Mix Designs and the production and placement of HMA. Assists in all aspects of the Quality Control operations for the division. Actively involved in the achievement of quality and safety requirements.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Learns and participates in the development and validation of processes, materials and products under the guidance of manager
Performs tests and sampling procedures before, during, and after the manufacturing process
Documenting data from test procedures and reporting abnormalities
Updating and preparing documentation of operating procedures
Providing expertise in quality control and operating procedures to co-workers
Perform Quality Control Testing of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and associated materials as assigned.
Submit all test and inspection reports
Actively participate in weekly safety meetings (Tool Box Talks)
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma
Bituminous Lab Technician Certification strongly desired
Current QC/QA Certifications preferred but not required.
Previous HMA Lab experience preferred but not required.
Job Requirements and Skills:
Strong computer skills
Basic math skills
Strong writing and verbal skills
Strong attention to detail
Good analytical and problem solving skills
This position requires walking, standing, bending, twisting, sitting and lifting
Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs without assistance
This position requires use of certain specific equipment such as marshall hammer, scales, and ovens.
