We would like to announce a new opening in our Norfolk, VA location where we are currently seeking a Quality Control Technician . Individuals will also be required to work outside of the lab area on an as-needed basis. Weekends and nights may be required during the operating season. This position reports directly to the Quality Control Supervisor.
Job Description Summary
The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers.
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures.
Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific duty.
Use accepted methods to inspect, sample and test aggregates, asphalt, concrete or other materials for the purpose of quality control.
Sample and test mixtures for compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance.
Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure our products meet or exceed requirements of the appropriate agency or customer.
Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results data base.
Assist internal and external customers in a timely manner
Obtain required certifications in a timely manner.
Follow quality control plans or guidelines as assigned.
Perform general cleaning of work areas.
Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Prior experience in Quality Control or Construction is highly desired but not necessary.
NETTCP Certifications for materials / construction test preferred but not necessary.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong communication skills.
Safe driving record and the ability to obtain security clearance.
Basic computer literacy using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Responsible, dedicated, dependable and punctual.
Self-motivated and able to work independently and cooperatively with others.
Organized, accurate and thorough with attention to detail.
Willing to learn and have a positive attitude.
