Summary Description of Position
The QC Technician provides plant and customer support for product shipment. Individual will perform physical testing on various construction aggregates to ensure conformance with the State Department of Transportation Certified Aggregate Producers Programs, the State or District Aggregate Gradation Control System and City or County program requirements as well as VMC performance standards for quality products.
Education, Experience, Skills Required
High School Diploma or its equivalent with good math skills is required.
Valid Driver’s License.
State certification for testing within one year of employment.
Successfully complete a 3-month operational probation period.
Obtain appropriate State Certifications for testing within one year.
Manufacturing experience in a technical related position focusing on quality preferred.
Experience in Process Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, Charting, and Six Sigma desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to use standard computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Ability to do computer data entry and perform statistical analyses on data sets a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
Must represent VMC in a professional manner to all customers, vendors, and internal personnel.
Must be willing to act as a fill in for varied shifts.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Testing: Follow set procedures to perform physical testing on various construction aggregates. Be exact in their work.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely records on all technical data.
Problem Solving: Investigate and analyze quality problems, recommend solutions, and ensure corrections are made
Use of telephone, computers, cell phones and other electronic devices is essential.
Must be physically able to work outdoors in all climate conditions, walk up and down stairs, and lift samples of up to 60 lbs.
Must have the ability to use computerized equipment and technology
Must be exact in their work and able to present information in a clear and concise manner. Ability to work in a very stressful, deadline oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making.
