Entry level for a qualified employee to train in analyzing and evaluating problems associated with the production process, components and explosives. Recommends and initiates specific action to Production, Engineering, and customers that results in resolution of process or quality problems.
Conducts studies to determine cause of item failure and recommends corrective action. Provides technical knowledge of production items to customers and other divisions at Day & Zimmermann Lone Star LLC, Camden Operations Evaluates and analyzes weapon systems and item performance. Provides support at proving grounds when necessary for ballistic testing/acceptance of component and ammunition items produced at Day & Zimmermann Lone Star LLC, Camden Operations. Formulates and conducts Technical Programs, prepares Technical Reports, and initiates Engineering Change Proposals. Serves, when assigned, as a member or chairman of various committees including Best Buy, Material Review Board, Corrective Action Board, Incident Investigating Team, Failure Analysis (root cause and corrective action), Product Core Teams, Configuration Control Board and/or new Product Group. Monitors existing production techniques, component interfaces and production equipment performance. Provides oversight and guidance in the production and testing of First Articles for compliance to contract requirements. They will perform the job of a QE in the calibration, receiving, and inspection department. Some of these specific functions include:
Assure all inspection, measuring and test equipment used for acceptance, testing, measuring, gauging, and inspection purposes has the accuracy and resolution necessary to satisfy the requirements of the TDP (technical data package). Assure the inspection of all incoming material is performed correctly – (correct gauges and gauging methods are used, shelf life is controlled, inspectors are knowledgeable about drawing and specifications, and ISO 9001:2008 Quality requirements are met) Assure the calibration system, receiving inspection, and quality systems are in compliance with ANSI Z540, ISO 9001:2008, and Camden Operations Manual.
Knowledge of chemistry, metallurgy, and electronics through work experience or college courses is required. Knowledge of specialized precision measuring equipment, characteristics of explosive, destructive testing and non-destructive testing techniques or aptitude to learn these skills. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be proficient in the use of computers with standard software including Windows, Word, and Excel. Constantly exercises initiative, independent judgment and discretion in performing job assignments.
