Based in our Minneapolis, MN office, the individual will be responsible for conducting a variety of dimensional, visual, electronic, and nondestructive tests on parts and assemblies to ensure unit meets and or functions according to specifications. They will collect data for the purposes of focusing process improvements and acts to carry out those improvements. In addition this person will train others on inspection methods, act as a back-up to help other quality personnel with inspection needs, and assist with ISO 9001 maintenance, non-conformance dispositions, and vendor/supplier issues.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: .

· Understands inspection and test procedures and equipment to be used to perform the inspections and tests. Maintains knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection equipment and methods.

· Incorporates and utilizes statistically sound inspection sampling methodologies to effectively handle the Company’s growing business and special customer requirements.

· Verifies calibration of test instruments.

· Conducts gage R&R studies.

· Compares results with specifications and records test data when appropriate.

· Analyzes results on defective product to determine cause of failure.

· Confers with engineers, production personnel, and others regarding inspection and test results and plays a major role in developing preventive action.

· Initiates involvement with vendors/suppliers up front to help them develop a Quality Process Plan to ensure proper inspection of parts, key critical inspection points, and process risk assessment. This needs to be guided by the QE, but performed at the supplier to assure conforming parts are entering our facility.

· Trains other technicians and people outside the department on inspection methodologies and techniques. Mentors other technicians.

· Understands the Johnstech sales order documentation package including, specifications, BOMs, drawings, WO’s, data sheets etc.

· Assist Quality Manager with prioritizing everyday through-put, NPD, and other inspection requirements.

· Provide assistance as necessary in the investigation and resolution of quality issues.

· Assist Quality Manager with ISO 9001 maintenance.

· Enhance and promote a continuous improvement quality philosophy.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

· Technical college education in QA, inspection or machine shop, or equivalent inspection experience.

· 5 plus years QA experience.

· Knowledge of statistical techniques of quality assurance.

· Ability to perform close tolerance work and to read and comprehend prints/drawings (GD&T comprehension).

· Good time management and leadership skills required.

· Knowledge of short run production.

· Must be enthusiastic, highly motivated, cooperative, responsible and flexible.

· Must have the ability to work efficiently without supervision.

· Must be willing to do “hands on” inspection with mechanical checks and vision system inspection to help when there are spikes in workload for the technicians, high NPD workload, and back-up for vacations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Prefer experience with automatic vision inspection systems and plastic parts. PC-DMIS programming experience is a plus.

· Experience with ISO 9001 standard is a plus.
