Job Description:I. SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer plans and supports activities to
maintain and improve Waukesha Bearings quality system to
assure manufacturing processes, inspection methods and
quality documentation meets or exceeds customer’s
requirements. The Quality Engineer will develop and
initiate new or improved methods focused on lowering
overall costs of quality by performing the following

duties:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborate with Quality Manager and Quality Control
Technicians to share knowledge of quality issues and
develop robust corrective actions to enhance/improve
overall company quality. Develop and support standards
and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation of
raw materials, work in-process and finished products.
  • Investigate and analyze causes of scrap, rework and
warranty work to determine root cause; develop/and
assist with implementation of modifications of processes
and procedures to improve quality or meet quality
standards at lower costs.
  • Interface with all business functions and departments
to assure ISO 9001:2008 procedures are in accordance to
latest procedures. Maintain necessary ISO documents and
quality records.
  • Facilitate meetings with Quality Technicians, Managers
and production personnel on all shifts, to provide
guidance and instruction on proper inspection methods,
reporting procedures and problem solving techniques.
  • Confer with Manufacturing Engineering to improve
manufacturing processes with objective to stabilize or
increase process capabilities.
  • Maintain close contact with customers, including
customer site visits, to assure Waukesha Bearings is
meeting or exceeding customer’s expectations. Document
and communicate customer’s concerns to appropriate
departments. Develop internal training programs to
support customer’s requirements.
  • Participate in customer alliance initiatives. Develop
metrics and document customer quality KPIs.
  • Prepare professional correspondence to customers,
suppliers and vendors regarding quality issues and
coordinate required actions to resolve issues.
  • Audit and qualify vendors to assure compliance with
standards. Correspond with vendors regarding quality
problems and necessary corrective actions to be
implemented.
  • Assist QC Technicians in performing processes required
for Final Release of customer’s products.
  • Develop and maintain internal quality KPIs. Analyze
data and propose countermeasures for improvement.
  • Develop and create written inspection procedures along
with forms and instructions for recording and reporting
quality data.
  • Establish Calibration programs to evaluate precision
and accuracy of production and testing/measurement
equipment.
  • Perform and review Internal Quality Audits.
II. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of machining processes, metrology, and
metallurgy.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex manufacturing
drawings.
  • Strong understanding and application of Geometric
Dimensions and Tolerances.
  • Extensive experience in use and application of
inspection, testing and measuring equipment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to clearly define problems; collect data; and
draw valid conclusions.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
including Word, Excel and Power-Point.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common
scientific and technical journals, and legal documents.
  • Ability to effectively present information to
customers, suppliers, management and employees.
  • Excellent technical writing skills to effectively
correspond with customers, suppliers, managers and
employees.
  • Must possess the ability to perform arithmetic
calculations, convert units of measurement, compute
rate; ratio; percentage and apply trigonometry as
generally used in a machine shop environment.
  • Work with mathematical concepts such as probability
and statistical inference.
  • Level III NDT certification preferred but not
required.
  • Familiar with a variety of Quality field concepts,
practices, and procedures, including problem solving
techniques such as PDCA, DMAIC, FMEA and Root Cause
Analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of ISO
9001:2008 and ISO: 14000 requirements and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing philosophies
and tools, along with Six-Sigma techniques.
  • Self-directed individual capable of performing a
variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and
latitude is expected.

III. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in
Engineering or a related field, plus a minimum of three
years experience in quality control functions in a
manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience in the use of inspection and
measuring equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of computer word processing
and spreadsheet programs.

IV. LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common
scientific and technical journals, and legal documents.
Ability to effectively present information to top
management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Must be able to read and interpret safety rules,
procedure manuals, complex blueprints; Ability to write
routine reports; correspondence; and create cell metric
for process control. The ability to speak effectively
before groups of customers or employees of the WB
organization is essential. Ability to respond to common
inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory
agencies, or members of the business community.

V. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and
divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals; compute rate; ratio;
percent; and to electronically draw and interpret bar
graphs; work with mathematical concepts such as
probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals
of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

VI. REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish
facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret
an extensive variety of technical instructions to
effectively carry out the instructions furnished in
written, oral, mathematical or diagram form. Ability to
deal with problems involving several variables in
standardized.

peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to
adjust focus.
