From standardized benchtop systems, to the world’s largest custom installations, Brooks is the name scientists rely on. Responsible for Supplier Quality (Vendors and Contract manufacture) for BLSS. SQE Evaluates and support quality practices of BLSS- Brooks Supply chain to continuously improve performance of key system components by implementing process controls and develop quality assurance plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Serve as the primary Quality Assurance resource to a group of suppliers and planner/buyers for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement; while reporting to Quality Area Leader on quality issues, trends and losses. Develop and analyze data through metrology and Statistical Process Control the part or product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of components and finished products acquired by the company; providing oversight of the manufacture of products to ensure that engineering documentation is consistent with manufacturing methods employed. Use the company Manufacturing Standard 180 to reduce non-conformances and discrepancies, holding meetings with buyers and suppliers and designing, developing and implementing quality control metrics and training programs with both buyers and suppliers. Support the corporate and the local procurement staff in formulating, documenting, measuring, maintaining and auditing quality control standards and periodical metrics; expecting that suppliers deliver quality parts and products with less than 1000 PPM of rejects per calendar quarter. Assist the corporate and local procurement staff in coordinating activities and processing Qualification Lots (FAI) ensuring that suppliers comply with the Control Plans (PC’s), issuing First Article Inspection Reports (FAI’s) and Certificates of Conformance (COC’s); contributing to the qualification of new suppliers through formal training and explanatory sessions; ensuring that fabricated items are traceable to documented standards at the time of release of product into the production mode. Create, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures useful to the buyers and suppliers; providing and overseeing the inspection activity at the supplier’s facilities throughout the production cycle. Issue SCAR (Supplier corrective action request) as necessary, following up the prompt resolution providing feedback through “score cards” and monthly reports to both buyers and suppliers. Ensure that the inspection / verification plan for each part or product is the correct one. Help suppliers and in-house manufacturing in implementing a Continuous Quality Improvement program, forming Failure Analysis teams and achieving progressive Levels of Process Certification; and delivering to each supplier a monthly graphic report on their PPM’s and the progressive tendencies of their quality results against a target. Coordinate and implement an Audit schedule of the supplier’s operations in accordance with ISO 9000 Requirements. Perform onsite audit and follow up completion of the requirements needed to add new supplier at Brooks AVL.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: At least 5 years of work experience in Quality Assurance, combined with a demonstrated track-record of accomplishments satisfying customers in technology-driven, developing companies that use Statistical Process Control. Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control; and good use of Quality Engineering methods in inspection. Kaizen techniques and experience developing/documenting procedures. Computer proficiency in Minitab and Microsoft’s Office + Project and Access; Oracle-Agile. Quality orientation and high attention to detail. Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills. Ability to take initiative, to maintain confidentiality, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment is essential. Problem analysis/resolution skills.
