To lead single discipline and participate in multi-discipline assessment teams delivering ISO and associated sector scheme certification.
Undertake client management activities for assigned customers.
Lead or participate in preliminary assessments, assessments, follow-up visits, surveillances and certificate renewals to contract and budget requirements.
Comply with LRQA procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
Produce verbal and written assessment reports on time and to the agreed format..
Discuss and justify the findings of the report and agree the outcome with clients.
Undertake necessary documentation, data, administration and communication activities needed to successfully fulfil responsibilities
Pursue CPD and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
Coach other employees
Identify new and additional business opportunities, advise clients on LR and LRQA services and action any resulting leads.
Lead or participate in special projects.
Before appointment as an assessor an individual must have
• Successfully completed the Assessor under Training [AuT] programme.
• Enough sector codes to be fully utilised.
Global Technical Requirements
These are defined by MSBS. Assessors must meet all the requirements which apply to their responsibilities, disciplines and sectors..
These are in P/CEN/6200 This document specifies;
• Generic criteria applicable to all assessors
• Requirements for EMS, QMS and OHSAS disciplines
• Requirements for schemes such as TS16949, BRC, etc.
• Coding requirements for working in specific industrial and commercial sectors
• Requirements for ancillary roles such as authorised supervisor, resource authoriser etc.
IT competent. Able to use the assessor IT software and hardware effectively.
Education - BS Degree in Environmental Science/Engineering (or related subject)
At least two year’s work experience in a role specifically related to managing
environmental impacts / aspects and compliance with environmental law and
regulations. The work experience can be gained either in an industrial position,
as a consultant or as a regulator.
Practical experience in conducting EMS / RC 3rd party audits.
Minimum 5 years experience in a management level position in industry with supervisory responsibilities (highly preferred).
Familiarity with management system certification and registrar accreditation processes.
Knowledge of ISO 14001 and RC14001, RCMS management system
Hold current certification as ISO 14001: lead auditor by IRCA or
Equivalent certification. Must hold Responsible care registration with ACC.
