DRW Trading Group is a principal trading organization, meaning all of our trading is for our own account, and all of our methods, systems and applications are solely for our own use. Unlike hedge funds, brokerage firms and banks, DRW has no investors, clients or customers. DRW trades actively in a wide range of assets classes both domestically and internationally.
DRW is headquartered in Chicago and has offices in New York, and London. We currently employ over 450 people worldwide from many different disciplines and backgrounds.
Quantitative Researchers at DRW are integral to our operations. Accurate, unique and faster analyses create a competitive advantage and have a significant financial impact. We are seeking Ph.D. candidates for our Quantitative Researcher Intern position. Prior knowledge of financial markets is not required.


Create practical solutions to problems presented in the trading environment

Conduct high quality research both independently as well as with other Researchers, Traders and Software Engineers

Design and develop derivative pricing models, quantitative trading strategies and algorithms

The DRW Internship
Project. Upon arrival, interns receive a challenging project to complete during the summer. Each project, advised by a Quantitative Researcher, promotes a comprehensive learning experience.
Housing. DRW provides fully furnished apartments. Access to a fitness facility is also provided.
Mentor Program. Each intern builds a professional relationship with an experienced mentor. Mentors and mentees meet to discuss goals, challenges and professional development.
Education: Each intern will complete an options and futures course taught by an experienced trader.

Required Experience:
Highly skilled in at least one of the following: statistics, stochastic calculus, probability, time-series analysis, control theory, artificial intelligence and optimization.

Driven and passionate about solving problems

Proficiency in one of the following: C++, C#, Mathematica or Matlab

Excellent communication skills and flexibility to perform in multidisciplinary team

Ph.D. degree or candidacy with expected graduation in 2013 required.
