Our Shared Service division offers a unique and challenging opportunity for a R&D Engineer II . This position will be based out of our Hauppauge facilities in Long Island , New York . We are seeking an e xperienced product / process engineer with the ability to plan, develop, and implement separations and purification product development. Responsible for designing and developing new products for filtration, integrating design for assembly and design for Manufacturability concepts. Responsible for designing and building specialized R&D equipment to support new products. Responsible for overall product test plan, including writing and executing engineering studies, lab and/or full scale manufacturing prototype runs, as per Design of Experiments. Performs R&D testing of new products, components or materials in accordance with R&D specifications and direction while maintaining all applicable safety procedures. Support transfer to manufacturing; including supporting manufacturing equipment build and test, writing purchase specifications for new purchased components, writing protocols, and training PE and manufacturing operators on new protocols. The qualified candidate must be able to effectively partner with diverse team members from various functions, multiple countries and members at various levels in organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design and Develop new robust products for filtration. Make improvements to existing products.

Design and Develop new equipment for R&D to test new products and processes.

Independently run hands-on product development processes and protocol development.

Records R&D experiment details, test procedures and results.

Performs routine and new protocol analyses and calculations. Work independently for new protocol development and scale up (lab to mfg.) processes.

Recommends changes in equipment, products or test methods and works with the team on new / product / membrane / process prototype design.

Train and supervise operators for R&D. Lead mfg. scale executions and new protocols which include real-time problem-solving and direction.

Work with PE for new product transfers.

Independent product research and testing and data recording and analysis. Experience working with laboratory and fully scale manufacturing equipment.

Candidate must be capable of presenting and communication project progress and results to peers and senior management. Technical writing skills, including product design specification authoring, ability to create SOP's , and associated documentation

Education, Knowledge & Experience

B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering

5 years proven product design experience (medical or biopharm arena preferable)

Experience in membrane and chemical process development (Scale up) a strong plus.

Product Design Experience utilizing CAD and applying Design for Manufacturing/ Assembly concepts

Proven product and equipment design experience, with under a 5 year development time

Ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the corporation.

Ability to execute technical tasks and projects with minimal supervision

Mechanical abilities

Computer literate (CAD Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) This is a crucial requirement.

Self-starter with minimal or no supervision

Knowledge in OSHA, ISO and cGMP regulations

Knowledge in synthetic polymeric membrane development a plus

Strives for results (lab and full scale)

Experience working with chemicals

Experience in a Bio pharmaceutical, Biomedical product development is highly desired,
