Posting Description
CAREER OPPORTUNITY A manager/engineer role supervising a group of engineers and researchers in product design, performance measurement/analysis and development. Responsible for assigning and coordinating direct reports project/research work and participating in high value at stake product development projects. HOW YOU WILL IMPACT MWV

Manage a team of engineers and researchers for engineering design/analysis/development and diagnostics support in coordination with business project managers, global design, materials R&D and packaging converting/transformation functions responsible for the development of overall packaging solutions

Collaborate with industrial graphic/digital designers, manufacturing engineering, and technical services in developing functional designs and conducting the performance analysis.

Develop parametric model designs for evaluation of packaging concepts. Perform CAE analyses for optimization of package performance.

Identify, evaluate and recommend new vendors, tools and technologies related to product design, rapid prototyping, testing and measurement that will accelerate product development and/or enhance the sample product performance.

Introduce new approaches and technologies using knowledge of complex engineering concepts, theory, or processes from related industries to adapt approaches in order to solve problems by seeing similarities in the product or process.

Provide direction for mid/junior level engineers in generation of detailed engineering drawings, packaging component sub assemblies and assemblies for product quoting, costing, and prototype development and manufacture.

Provide direction for researchers in planning and conducting packaging/process testing, measurements and evaluation using statistically designed experiments.

Applies leadership skills to actively involve others and solicit their ideas and opinions; gives instructions and demonstrates processes for others; offers advice and resources to instruct others; coaches others with feedback and suggestions for improvement; takes action to overcome resistance and obstacles and get the best results

Conduct performance reviews and establish goals for direct reports; Mechanical Design Engineers, Diagnostic Engineers, and Researchers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Able to manage engineering/technical teams chartered with developing and finding solutions to packaging problems with excellent verbal and written communications and perform design/development project work.

Proficient in the use of one or more Unigraphics NX, Autocad or Solidworks CAD parametric modeling and surfacing software platforms,

Experience in the use and application of Finite Element Analysis.

Learn and utilize new technology, absorb large quantities of information and distill down to priorities. Communicate complex information to technical and non technical employees, vendors and customers.

Initiative in instituting action to remove barriers and/or add capabilities to the product design/development process. An aptitude for developing organization and administrative procedures.

Experience and Education: · Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or related materials engineering.

Minimum 10 years of experience in the design and development of plastic products with emphasis in injection molding, extrusion and blow molding materials and processing/manufacturing technologies preferred.

Understands and has working knowledge of analytic lab equipment application and value, metrology and test protocols.

Project management experience leading technical teams, preparing and presenting summary reports, chairing meetings

Training courses and experience in polymer based product design, Computer Aided Engineering Software, Injection molding tooling & processing, quality control systems, statistical DOE, metrology, laboratory testing methodology, rapid prototyping and fabrication of prototype samples and ISO 9001 or similar quality management system process requirements.
