Position Objective and Overview of Role:|
Provide fundamental administrative support for the daily operation of the Cell nutrition R&D laboratory.
The R&D technician will be responsible for ordering, purchasing & receiving lab supplies, maintaining inventory, and shipping of specialized samples.
Accurately maintain purchasing records, prepare and submit required paperwork as needed to the accounting department. Prepare the necessary paperwork for capital acquisitions; including collecting quotes and managing all paperwork necessary to execute the purchase of equipment once funds are approved.
The R&D technician will be responsible for the daily running, calibration and scheduling routine maintenance of R&D equipment. Ensure safe storage of samples and cell culture stocks by monitoring freezer temperatures and arranging maintenance when necessary.
The R&D technician will perform minor equipment and facilities maintenance and arrange for specialized contractors to perform equipment service.
The R&D technician will provide support for the R&D staff at the discretion of their manager. This may incorporate preparation of stock solutions and buffers, media preparation as well as culturing of mammalian cell lines.
The R&D technician will take on customer projects at the discretion of their manager
Experience / Qualifications:
Qualifications: Diploma or B.S. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology or other related fields.
Familiar with experimental design, standard laboratory data logging and reporting.
Hands-on experience with either prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell cultures
Experience or exposure to some pilot or production equipment/activities (fermentors, spray dryers, freeze dryers, centrifugation, filtration, pelletizing, evaporation, sterilization, pasteurization).

Interact with other groups within Kerry when necessary (applications groups/ marketing/ production)
Order laboratory supplies, make media, participate in routine lab maintenance and cleaning, lead pilot equipment maintenance/cleaning, engage in misc. site related initiatives and accept occasional off-hours/flexed time
Ability to lift 60 lbs
