The work involves operating x-ray apparatus to take films for diagnostic purposes. This is technical work involving the administration of x-rays to patients to obtain f i lms for diagnosis. Work is performed under the general supervision of a licensed physician or Senior Technologist. Supervision is exercised over the work of a small number of aides or clerical employees. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Schedules x-ray examinations and insures identification of patients; Measures, prepares and positions patients for radiography; Selects and sets up exposure factors on x-ray equipment; Administers x-rays to obtain x-ray films for diagnostic purposes; Operates film developing and processing equipment and prepares developing solutions; --''Reviews films for technical accuracy and determines need for retakes or additional views; Inspects equipment to ensure proper performance; Observes and records patients'' condition and reports significant information; Attends in-service and other training courses to remain current in the field; Requisitions and stores supplies and materials; Assists physicians in fluoroscopy and special radiological procedures. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS. ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS : Good knowledge of x-rays physics; Good knowledge of radiographic techniques; Good knowledge of darkroom chemistry and techniques; Good knowledge of radiographic procedures including G.I. fluoroscope and special radiographic procedures; Good knowledge of accepted professional ethics; Skilled in the operation of x-ray producing equipment; Ability to carry out complex oral and written instructions; Ability to get along well with patients and co-workers; Thoroughness and reliability; Good judgment; Physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have graduated from an approved school of Radiologic Technology and possess a license and current registration as an x-ray or Radiologic Technologist issued by the New York State Department of Health at the time of permanent appointment.
