Hours/Days: 7am - 4pm or 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday Work Location: Missouri Psychiatric Center
To provide therapeutic recreational activities for patients.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Water Safety Instructor and Red Cross First Aid Certification preferred. A valid Missouri drivers license is required. CTRS Certification, Certification eligible with the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification or currently working toward a certification eligible status following the CTRS Equivalency Path ?A? or ?B? is strongly preferred.

Detailed Description:
Plan, conduct and coordinate a variety of therapeutic recreation programs for rehabilitation unit. Respond to physician referral from other units in hospital. Supervise recreation activities in hospital recreation area. Assess through observation patients' group and social skills, use of communication and problems, which would hinder re-integration. Evaluate patients' therapeutic recreational needs, develop individual goals and objectives and follow-up on patients' progress in his/her program. Document patients' progress as well as reporting progress in team rounds and conferences. Provide educational and/or in-service training/programs as necessary to staff, volunteers, allied health professionals, community and patient families. Assist in preparing patients for discharge into his/her community. Provide information on leisure resources within the patient's hometown - accessibility information, referral to agency or individual follow-up assistance, etc. Maintain monthly statistics as required. All duties and standards within this document will be performed in compliance with regulatory guidelines and applicable federal/state laws according to University policies and procedures. Maintain the confidentiality of all patient information handled when performing duties and report activities by any individual or entity suspected of compromising the confidentiality of patient information to supervisor.
