With content direction from WJP staff, the Research and Graphic Design Coordinator helps design and coordinates the layout and production of the annual WJP Rule of Law Index report series and online data visualizations, as well as other publications, articles, presentations, blog posts, and related content. Duties include researching and analyzing original data in order to distill findings into creative and professional data visualizations and infographics.
The ideal applicant will combine data research and analysis capabilities with demonstrated experience and skill in document and text layout, web design and development, and translating complex issues into compelling visuals and written summaries. Those with interest or experience in international affairs are especially encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Chief Research Officer and the Director of Communications, and in collaboration with internal teams, coordinate the production timelines and all aspects of the design, printing, and web presentation of the WJP Rule of Law Index annual report series, as well as other related follow-on reports, articles, and presentations.
Draft and develop high-quality, creative data visualizations (static and interactive), infographics, and text summaries, incorporating multiple rounds of review feedback, to be used in WJP publications, on WJP website & social media platforms, and for external media.
Lead layout and design for follow-on reports and Index-related presentations, handouts, and other materials.
Analyze WJP research/data as well as synthesize secondary sources for contextualizing findings in relation to outside issues and trends.
Contribute to the data collection, research, and writing for Index and follow-on findings and reports.
Contribute to report dissemination/roll out and communications planning for the annual WJP Rule of Law Index report launch event and press conference, as well as similar events for other WJP follow-on reports, data findings, and other materials.
Update and manage research-related website pages and data interactive pieces on WJP website.
Other duties as necessary.
Skills and Experience
Graphic design experience, especially data visualization and document and presentation layout.
Ability to read, interpret, and synthesize complex data and research.
Familiarity with quantitative research methods and basic knowledge of statistical analysis a plus.
Ability to prioritize workload and daily assignments efficiently; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; follow through on issues in a timely manner, and to meet deadlines.
Ability to interact with staff at all levels and work in a team-oriented environment, as well as ability to be flexible and work independently with little supervision.
Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently; and ability to give and receive feedback.
Proficiency and interest in developing new skills and learning new subject matter quickly.
Excellent oral communication skills; excellent writing skills; strong decision making ability; and strong attention to detail.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop); Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); website back-end content management and basic HTML coding; database CRM management; online survey software and IT platforms.
Ability to travel.
Excellent academic record.
