Assist in the operation of the metals, wetchemistry, and/or radiochemistry procedures; work directly with client supplied samples and run tests using ion chromatographs, pH meters, auto analyzers, and spectrophotometers; complete reference standard preparation; perform spiking by using pipettes and liquid transfers; perform various chemical experiments and laboratory functions; wash glassware and cleanup around laboratory.
    Requires an AA degree with 15 years of laboratory experience in a chemistry or technical environment.. Requires experience in metals prep or wetchemistry techniques or BS degree in related science field. Science degree preferred. Must have experience in performing standardized testing following EPA and ASTM test procedures; must have experience with the following techniques: tests including pH, TDS, TSS, BOD, and conductivity, spectrophotometric methods such as TKN, TOC, COD, ammonia, total phosphorus, nitrate + nitrite-N, and cyanide; use of an automated TOC and wetchemistry analyzer; previous knowledge and training for handling radioactive materials is beneficial; previous laboratory experience required; knowledge of basic computer skills and chemistry background is a plus; must have good math skills; must be able to work under a stressful environment; must be able to work overtime as necessary, including weekends and holidays; must be able to work with hazardous or radioactive samples. Primary consideration for this position will be given to qualified candidates currently residing in San Antonio and surrounding areas.
