WWII is a 36 bed Medical Surgical Unit dedicated to the treatment of adults for treatment of general medical surgical diagnoses including, but not limited to diabetes, congestive heart failure, pulmonary diseases, diagnosis and treatment of hematological and oncological conditions. Chemotherapy is administered to oncology patients. Remote Telemetry monitoring is provided based on the patients' diagnosis. Care is supported by RNs, an LPN, NAs and USs. Several RNs on WWII hold National Oncology Certification (OCN).
WWII staff practice under standards and guidelines from the Pennsylvania Nursing Board, American Nurses' Association, Oncology Nursing Society and policies, procedures, standards of care and clinical pathways of The Chester County Hospital. As a component of the CCH Cancer Program, the WWII Unit is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.
GENERAL SUMMARY STATEMENT
Responsible for providing oversight of shift operations of designated, ensuring consistently high quality, service-oriented, cost-effective environment care. Facilitates activities and projects that promote and evaluate standards of practice. Supports the mission, philosophy and objectives of The Chester County Hospital. Reports directly to the Director of Medical Surgical.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Current PA RN license. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with BSN. Minimum of two years experience in specialty. Specialty certification and CPR certification required. Previous management experience preferred. Demonstrates superior leadership and organizational skills. Must participate in yearly competency-based program.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to identify problems and resolve them using a systems approach. Ability to utilize Hospital approved equipment. Available to be a strong resource person. Meets and exceeds all performance standards for a staff nurse. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
