4 Green South Acute Pulmonary Unit is a 24-bed tele-monitored unit providing specialty care to adult patients with acute or chronic respiratory disease. Primary diagnoses include: COPD, asthma, pleural effusion, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia. Our focus of treatment is aggressive medical management using patient-centered approach by a multidisciplinary team that includes 24/7 respiratory therapy , pulmonary rehab referral, case management, social work, dietary and nutritional support, and other services provided. We also care for patients with tracheostomy, CPAP, BiPAP, and continuous pulse oximetry monitoring.
ACPU is a team-oriented, highly-engaged group who work closely with pulmonologists as well as the hospitalist. The ACPU is working towards COPD certification and prides itself with the quality and caring patient experience that we provide.
Job Summary: The Registered Nurse functions under the direction of the Nurse Manager and Resource Nurse and is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and experience. The nurse is responsible for coordinating and providing safe patient care with an understanding and awareness of age appropriate and culturally aware needs. The nurse addresses the patient/family biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and education needs. The nurse is responsible for delivery of patient care in complex situations, coordination of patient care activities, staff development and professional self-development. The nurse is able to independently perform job functions. Required Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing; current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Georgia; Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred; national certification in area of specialty preferred. Required Minimum Experience: One (1) year medical/surgical nursing practice in an acute care environment preferred. Required Skills: Ability to read, write and speak the English language; Strong customer service and interpersonal skills; Inter- and intra-departmental coordination of patient care activities; Delegation skills required; Ability to multi-task essential; Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations essential; Strong detail orientation required; Computer skills required; Personal time management skills are required; Compliance with the American Nurses' Association Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses is required; Demonstrates knowledge of and practices within parameters outlined in Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act.
Required Minimum Education
: Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing: Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred; National certification in area of specialty preferred
Required Minimum Licensure/Certification
: Current/active license as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia; Must have a current BLS card from the American Heart Association on the first day of employment in position.
Required Minimum Experience
: Experience with direct patient care preferred.
Required Minimum Skills
: Ability to read, write and speak English language, optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and holds basic computer skills; Strong interpersonal, collaborative skills along with customer service skills required; Ability to function in a fast paced environment and respond to emergencies in using a decisive, composed and respectful manner; Possess excellent time management skills; practices nursing using evidence and analytical skills along with possessing strong critical thinking skills.
