Our continued growth has created an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to work at our HealthPartners Bloomington Clinic in the Primary Care Department. This person will effectively provide high quality service to both internal and external patients and will make independent nursing diagnoses and develop plans of care based on patient assessment. This person will also create and implement dynamic teaching plans based upon patient need and will act as a resource for other staff.

Tuesday, Wednesday, 8:00am-5:15pm

Thursday, Friday, 8:00am-5:30pm

.89 FTE (67 hours per pay period/ 33.5 hours per week)

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year recent GI, Med-Surgical, or SICU experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current RN licensure in Minnesota
  • Current RN licensure in Wisconsin within two months of hire
  • Current CPR certification required within 6 months of hire, and maintain
  • Strongly demonstrated written and oral communication skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods at a time. Must possess speech, hearing and sight skills to perform the functions of the position. Manual dexterity required. Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently. Proficiency in other languages may be required. Some positions may have lifting requirements.

Nursing Process:
1. Definition

1. Nursing assessment is accomplished through interviewing, observation, and/or nursing procedures.

2. Problem identification (nursing diagnosis) defines the impact of health problems affecting individuals and families. Registered nurses distinguish between normal and abnormal findings in order to identify patient capabilities and limitations.

3. Planning is the process of making decisions and setting goals which are mutually acceptable to the nurse and all pertinent others.

4. Implementation is the process of providing comprehensive nursing care.

5. Evaluation includes assessment and reassessment of the patient’s progress toward goal achievement.

1. Nursing Care:
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in using the nursing process to provide care to patients and their families.
  • Implements established Group Health Nursing Policies and Procedures.
  • Provides emotional, intellectual and psychological support to patients and their families.
1. Documentation:
  • Documents accurately and completely and keeps record regarding clinical practice.
1. Consultation / Collaboration:
  • Shares information with other members of the health care team.
  • Makes appropriate nursing referrals.
  • Uses interdisciplinary resources to enhance own clinical decision making
  • Provides continuity among home, office, inpatient setting and community.
  • Uses appropriate systems, automated or manual, to obtain patient information or schedule appointments.
1. Definition:
Education imparts knowledge designed to develop skills, to enhance decision-making, and to promote understanding. It includes interaction with the patient, family and community, as well as participating in formal and informal professional education.

1. Patient / Family / Community:
  • Identifies patient and family needs and develops a plan for education and/or makes appropriate nursing referrals.
  • Teaches techniques or knowledge necessary for prevention, management or rehabilitation.
  • Engages in ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of teaching in terms of understanding and application.

  • Participates in patient care conferences, in-services and educational programs in the GHI system, hospital and community.
  • Develops new opportunities, tools or methods of teaching.
1. Definition:

  • Serves as a role model in the enhancements of nursing practice and professional conduct.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in performing additional responsibilities to contribute to the improvements in patient care and the functioning of the care unit and other support services.
  • Provides support to professional and technical staff.

  • Formulates and attains personal and professional goals which promote individual growth, the care unit philosophy and the Group Health Mission.

  • Demonstrates ability to assess and problem solve.

  • Participates in and utilizes research appropriate to clinical setting to improve patient care.

  • Remains accountable for the efficient use of time, material and human resources.
  • Assists with the updating of current and development of new procedures as appropriate.
