Responsible for coordination, planning, assessment, intervention and education in the areas of lactation,
nutrition, and perinatal health to patients receiving care within the Perinatal Department. Collaborate with the Perinatal Department on education and training of staff and support initiative towards ‘Baby Friendly’ designation and continued certification. Comply with the California Nurse Practice Act, Article 2, Section 2725 of the Business and Professional Code and the ILCA Standards of Care.
Current California RN or RD license
NRP within 3 months of employment
LA City Fire card within 6 months of employment
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Lactation Consultant
RN or RD with a minimum of 1 year of experience
-Knowledge of breastfeeding care, antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum health care & educational principles
-Knowledge of premature infants, newborns and toddlers
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
