A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who prescribes, delegates and coordinates nursing care to the acutely ill patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
Experience : Minimum- Current experience (within past five years)or new nursing graduate(within past two years). Preferred- Preferred one year's experience in pertinent clinical specialty.
Education : Minimum- Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse program. BSN required for all new hires as of 1/1/2011.
Training: Experienced telemetry nurse to complete certification process within 90 days of employment. Nurses without telemetry experience must start telemetry class within 90 days of employment. New Graduate nurses must start telemetry class within 6 months of employment.
Special Skills: Basic computer knowledge. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Excellent customer service skills. Consistently works within the framework of the Illinois Practice Act for Nursing and ANA Standards of Professional Nursing Practice. Ability to assess and determine situations requiring an interpreter and to use interpreter services effectively.
