•Complies with all reliability standards applicable to the ROCC
•Monitors real-time control center operations and the performance of 30 wind farms spanning 6 NERC regions, with a combined capacity of over 3800MW across North America.
•Obtain and maintain operator certifications and licenses as required by the industry and EDPR NA
•Applies established procedures in order to guarantee maximum availability of over 2100 wind turbines, sale of energy, and wind farm service; thereby increasing EBITDA
•Reports and documents the status of forced and planned plant outages to Regional Transmission Organizations/ Independent System Operators (RTO/ISO), Off-Takers and other applicable internal and external entities.
•Develops and implements effective strategies to maximize the WPP value by capturing profit opportunities in the real-time power markets
•Evaluates system alarms and irregularities, taking corrective action as outlined in established guidelines
•Ensures quality and accuracy of EDPR NA real-time generation information being tele-metered to RTO/ISO, Off-Takers and other grid entities.
•Calls-out field and emergency service personnel when appropriate
•Develops switching orders and directs electrical substation switching at EDPR NA facilities using a detailed understanding of the Company’s electrical switching practices
•Ensures turbine and substation communications and data integrity is maintained
•Maintains proficiency in the various SCADA and HMI applications used to monitor and control real and reactive power output at all EDPR NA Wind Power Plants
•Maintains understanding of the energy markets where Company assets are located
•Communicates and collaborates with on-site technical staff to identify and correct problems at all EDPR NA generation sites
•Maintains understanding of commercial practices as they relate to managing merchant power pricing and scheduling
•Aids in the development and creation of training documents used in the ROCC
•Identifies areas of improvement within the ROCC and develops new procedures to ensure the ROCC meets industry requirements for compliant operations
•Additional duties as required
Position Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 5+ years in power system operations, power production, or lockout- tagout experience, or 3 years experience with a higher level degree or certifications
•Complete ROCC Operator qualification within 6 months
•Obtain PJM Generator Operator certification within 12 months
•Obtain NERC Reliability Coordinator certification within 18 months
•Other ISO/RTO certifications as they become applicable
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of power system operations including power system monitoring and control, communication and telemetry methods, SCADA, switching and tagging practices, system protection, AC theory and power flow;

Ability to understand and put into practice energy market selling processes
