The Manager of Radiation Oncology will direct daily operations, develop, plan and implement programs, enforce compliance with standards and develop systems to maximize patient access and provider efficiency in Bassett Cancer Institute.
The Manager of Radiation Oncology will be responsible for performance improvement, staff selection, overall scheduling of resources and staff development activities in the Radiation Oncology Department.
The Manager of Radiation Oncology will, in conjunction with the Practice & Business Manager plan, implement and facilitate systems and programs for the delivery of cancer care across the continuum, throughout the Bassett Regional System, with affiliated institutions and with non-Bassett referring providers.
The Manager of Radiation Oncology is responsible for the business elements of the department.
Responsibilities include attention to all revenue cycle operations, including scheduling and registration, charge submission, billing and reimbursement verification, revenue capture processes, maintaining charge masters, budget development and monitoring, including adherence variance reporting.
Along with the Practice & Business Manager, the Manager of Radiation Oncology will be responsible for analysis, reporting and proposing interventions in
support of the financial/business component of the Radiation Oncology department within the Bassett Cancer Institute.
This position supports the Cancer Services Varian EMR, especially as it pertains to revenue cycle and the business aspects of radiation oncology including contract negotiations, budget monitoring and invoicing, and assists in the development of proformas for any new programs developed in the Radiation Oncology department in the Bassett Cancer Institute.
Graduate of accredited four-year radiation therapist training program.
Bachelor’s degree required
Master’s degree preferred.
Experienced as a radiation therapist is required with progressive growth in experience and assigned duties.
Three years of health care management experience.
Experience in oncology management strongly preferred.
Master’s degree may be substituted for experience as long as other requirements are met.
NYS registration as a Radiation Therapist required
BLS certification required
Able to communicate effectively with and motivate to excellent performance physicians, physicists, dosimetrists therapists and others.
Capable of performing simulations and delivering prescribed doses of radiation to patients according to the departmental policies and procedures.
Intimate familiarity with the regulations and billing requirements associated with the provision of radiation oncology services.
Should be familiar with computer data entry and be able to use programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Must be able to push/pull more than 50 lbs. and lift objects more than 100 lbs. with assistance.
Able to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as positioning patient recording all treatments administered, etc
