Job Responsibilities

Under the direction of the KPBS Radio Operations Manager, this position will work with Manager to maintain radio operations systems, reading service operations, maintain audio library, and work with other departments as necessary. The Ops Asst. will have regular announcing responsibilities and act as primary fill-in for vacations. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining ENCO/DAD playlists and the library, oversight of WireReady automation system for reading service, assisting in on-air fundraising including air shifts as necessary. Announcing duties include research, writing, producing and airing live and pre-taped promotional spots, underwriting credits, and continuity material during assigned airshift and during pre-recorded continuity breaks. Minimum Qualifications

BA in related field or equivalent Minimum two years full-time professional experience as a radio announcer Familiarity with ENCO and Content Depot computer systems Demonstrated experience, preferably at a public radio station in a top 50 market Demonstrated experience in broadcast production, writing, and editing also necessary Basic office skills required including typing, word processing and operation of light office equipment

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to work within a live network structure, being creative within a clock-driven format Ability to work pro-actively and often without supervision A conversational announcing style is imperative, with special emphasis placed on pronunciation skills dealing with contemporary world news, arts and cultural figures and places Strong broadcast quality voice with an ability to mirror tone and presence with visual content and/or story sensitivity Ability to connect with the public media audience through words, vocal performance and presence, whether reading news copy, weather, line-up cards, promotional material or fundraising Well organized, ability to meet deadlines, detail oriented; possess good judgment and common sense
