MeYou Health is a health start-up based in Boston’s South End. For this job, you will be working on a variety of products including Daily Challenge ( http://www.dailychallenge.com ), a behavior change platform that introduces people to small actions each day to improve their well-being. Our products are sold to large employers, health plans, and government plans to help improve the well-being of large numbers of people in a simple and effective way. If you want to use your talent to make people healthy, this job is for you.
MeYou Health is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Healthways (Nasdaq: HWAY). This means that we can combine the flexibility, culture, and agility of a start-up with the security, benefits, and compensation of a larger company.
We are looking for a Rails Engineer to help us increase bandwidth on the product team. We want to deliver more features, faster, and at a continued high rate of quality. This year we are launching with customers and as we add customers, they add demands. We need you to help us scale.
You will be responsible for working on a high performance team building out solutions for well-being improvement across potentially many products, modalities, and customers.
What we are looking for:
Proven experience in software design and web application development, with a strong preference for experience with MVC frameworks and object-oriented scripting languages.
Experience with Ruby on Rails or the strong desire to immediately obtain significant experience.
Respect for user experience, design, mobile browser compatibility and application performance.
Familiarity with BDD/TDD.
Familiarity with version control systems (we use and love git).
Experience interacting with relational databases, either through SQL or an ORM like ActiveRecord.
Experience working on a team where many individuals have contributed to a project and a demonstrated ability to understand and safely extend an existing codebase.
Ability to comprehend new concepts, technologies and topics and assess their value.
Willingness to ask for forgiveness, not permission.
A desire to make a difference by making people healthier through the use of new social technology.
What you will do each day:
Participate in joint application design sessions to build anything and everything that we are going to build.
Build new features and functionality within a mobile web platform.
Implement JSON web services in Ruby on Rails.
Brainstorm with the team about new products and opportunities.
Troubleshoot and fix bugs on multiple mobile browsers and handsets.
The “tangibles” about MeYou Health:

We have a practically unheard of work/life balance
The “intangibles” about MeYou Health:
The focus on health rubs off on you, no matter how hard you try to resist!
You are working on something that impacts people’s lives. You will see that in the feedback and thousands of stories we receive each week.
We appreciate deep thinking in philosophy, math, science, language, etc.
We are always exploring new, bleeding-edge technologies, ideas, products and processes.
We make sure you have the best technology and tools for the job! Most people seem to pick a new iPhone, Mac Book Pro and Thunderbolt Display.
The office is relaxed, open and very collaborative.
We’re close to the trains here in Boston (Orange, Green and Red lines, as well as the Commuter rail).
Our office space is sunny and colorful.
There are lots of restaurants nearby. In fact, we are directly above two excellent ones.
...It took two minutes to come up with this list... so there are probably many more.
1. Submit your resume
2. Include a brief, personal note expressing why you are interested in the role and MeYou Health.
3. Take some time and complete our rails questionnaire for you to learn about the types of problems you will be solving here at MeYou Health, and give us an opportunity to see how you think about engineering. http://bit.ly/myhrails
