SUMMARY: This position is responsible for leading and directing the raw material optimization process for assigned Raw Materials with focus on Prepared Foods and in support of VAMS and Processed Meats business units to achieve operational and financial goals. This position is responsible for working within the Prepared Foods business unit and for supporting and learning the job duties of the Director of Optimization. This Team Member will be working with the individual business units as necessary to assist them in their strategic use and optimization of raw materials and for all assigned products to include Dairy, Beef, Pork, and Turkey and other key ingredients as identified from time to time. This position primarily focuses on least cost solutions and alternate use of raw materials for products used in our prepared and processed meats facilities. As part of the overall responsibility this position requires the individual to strategically position the company for best solutions relative to the products we produce and market to our customers. This includes collaborative problem solving, both creative and standard approaches to solving for complex issues and working knowledge of products that are used to produce our products while delivering the best solutions for Tyson as a whole. These activities include knowing the various inputs, markets impacting them and providing an array of reports designed to communicate the market information to the Business Unit managers responsible for managing the P &L. This position will be responsible for understanding costing models, yields, muscle balance, by products management and generally support the activities of the Business to include developing risk management solutions where possible. It is expected that this position will develop enterprise wide networking in order to create the necessary relationships required to facilitate communication, action and results measured by their ability to interact with their fellow Team Members.

Education: BA or BS degree or equivalent preferred.Experience: 10+ years; exposure to procurement, production of processed foods, working knowledge of markets and drivers for various raw material components, especially dairy; genuine interest in processed meats, prepared foods and facility operations.Computer Skills: Proficient with Word, Excel, Power Point. Plus if you have PPS, Tyosn1 and BOM working knowledge.Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal skills; excellent public speaking and listening skills.Special Skills: Strong organizational and leadership skills. Mathematical and statistical skills preferred. Ability to interact and collaborate is extremely important.Travel: Ranges from 4 to 11 trips per year or as needed.
