Prince William County's Real Estate Assessment Office is looking for someone to fill their Real Estate Appraiser Trainee position.
ENTRY SALARY: $42,690.70
General Definition of Work, Typical tasks, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Trains and performs routine professional and technical work in the appraisal of real property for assessment purposes. Training is provided by Real Estate Appraiser II.
Work is performed under close supervision of a Real Estate Appraiser II. This is a professional entry level position.
Makes field inspections of real property and responds to inquiries concerning appraisals;
Interviews persons familiar with property, searches public records of sales, leases, assessments and other transactions to estimate proper value;
Keeps abreast of local property trends and modern appraisal methods and techniques;
Collects and analyzes Information from a variety of sources and applies the analysis in the assessment of real property of varying complexity;
Analysis may include ratio studies, sales analysis or other analytic techniques as needed and applications may include any or all of the recognized approaches to value.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Some knowledge of the analytical process in decision making; ability to make effective use of a large amount of information gathered by the Real Estate Assessments Office; ability to apply specified information to the various properties in the County; ability to communicate orally effectively in order to tactfully respond to taxpayers, often in stressful situations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County personnel and the general public; ability to communicate effectively in writing in order to prepare clear and concise reports.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree with major course work in analytical areas, such as mathematics, economics, real estate or business.
Analytical, Communication/Interpersonal, Technical/Computer/Statistical Skills.
Bachelor's degree with major in an analytical area such as math, economics, real estate or business.
Must possess a valid driver’s license;
Must pass DMV record check.
