Summary: Works all Real Estate and Commercial delinquent and bankrupt loans including 1st and 2nd residential real estate, and secured and unsecured member business loans. Works with members, the Loss Mitigation Specialist and legal counsels regarding loan modifications, bankruptcies, foreclosures, real estates owned, legal services, and litigations to achieve viable solutions. Provides assistance to other staff members relating to collection accounts when necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Works all RE and Commercial delinquent and bankrupt loans including 1st and 2nd residential real estate, and secured and unsecured member business loans.
Must be able to read and analyze personal and business Federal and State tax returns.
Works with members, the Loss Mitigation Specialist and legal counsels regarding loan modifications, bankruptcies, foreclosures, real estates owned, legal services, and litigations to achieve viable solutions.
Works with property management companies and/or receiver in managing other real estates owned.
Maintains compliance with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to fair debt collection practices, bankruptcy, HMDA, UCC9, Fair Housing, and all other applicable Federal and State Laws.
Ensures all collections activities are in compliance with investors’ requirements.
Assists in providing monthly delinquency tracking and reports to SFCU’s investors.
Prepares necessary reports for monthly Board package.
Confers with member by telephone in attempt to determine reason for overdue payment, reviewing terms of account with member, and providing best alternative for both credit union and member.
Obtains current information on all accounts, resolves and documents in detail into Akcelerant and Interlinq systems, pending for proper follow-up.
Prepares and recommends extensions.
Researches and adjusts members' accounts as needed.
Skip traces accounts utilizing skip tools such as Accurint, MasterFiles, and FDI.
Researches and corrects credit bureaus and others via EOscar System.
May on occasion represent Stanford Federal Credit Union in court cases.
Researches and resolves complaints and inquiries.
Completes payments over the phone via FAX A Check system or ECM through Akcelerant system.
This position requires some interaction with CSR 1 and CSR 2 positions in a Collections lead capacity. When required this position will interact with Collections Manager with regards to more complex collection issues and in the communication of collection policy and team goals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.A. or 4-6 years Collection experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience risk management and loss mitigation as well as experience in handling all types of bankruptcies (Chapter 7, 11, and 13).
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Spanish speaking is highly desirable.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, net present value, internal rate of return, and cash flow.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete and non-concrete variables in standardized and un-standardized situations.
Must have personal computer skills (intermediate or higher level) including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
