General Summary of Position Responsibility:|
Performs the daily work activities of receiving, distribution of received goods, and data entry.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs daily work activities of receiving, and data entry functions. Assists with the resolution of problem receipts, purchase orders, releases, and deliveries.
Completes receiving actions involving incoming medical and non-medical materials, supplies, and equpment delivered to the hosopital form various vendors. Assists drivers with unloading delivery trucks.
Verifies completeness and accuracy of packing slips including purchase order number, item quantity, and unit of measure. Enters data in computerized system.
Maintains order and cleanliness in the receiving area by ensuring proper allocation of space, arrangement of items, and timely removal of shipping materials.
Delivers received goods to the requester on scheduled basis. Ensures that all emergency and Just in Time (JIT) orders are delivered by close of business day. Ensures that all perishable items are delivered expeditiously.
Completes the pick-up, packing, shipping, and documentation of returned goods and ensures all charges are processed correctly. Records, updates, and files packing slips, logs, and other records relative to the receiving and shipping activities utilizing hospital MMIS system.
Loads and unloads merchandise and assists in route scheduling for pick-ups and deliveries. Knowledge of proper lifting techniques and safe use of materials handling equipment, both manual and powered is required.
Ensures that all maintenance of the trucks is handled in a timely fashion and in accordance with maintenance schedules including taking and picking up from service location.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school level of course work with attainment of a high school diploma or equivalency. A minimum of two years work experience performing receiving and data entry functions.
Ability to perform limited mathematical operations for identification of items, count items, process receipts, and record keeping including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to operate potentially hazardous mechanical loading equpment, such as electric power pallet jacks.
Effective verbal communicaiton skills are necessary in order to work with a variety of hospital personnel including co-workers, supervisors, and medical staff members.
