Under general supervision handles receiving of incoming materials, supplies and products; inspects goods for damages and performs associated record keeping.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs the inspection of goods received; identifies damaged or defective items and discrepancies in quantities and weights; follows up to correct discrepancies as appropriate.
Verifies goods against records of shipments; maintains paper logs or computer data base to record all relevant information about shipments/receipts.
Carries goods or interacts with materials handlers to ensure that goods are moved and stored appropriately in warehouses or temporary storage facility; may use a cart or other manual equipment to move goods to storage.
May unpack incoming branch merchandise and tag merchandise with correct SKU number and price; if appropriate, may stock shelves with merchandise.
Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.
May load truck and delivery items.
Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge of company products to determine appropriate appearance, weight, count, etc.
Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to engage with location staff to exchange information
Ability to read and write bills of lading, invoices, shipping lists, etc.
Knowledge of basic math, counting and estimating
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and three (3) months of goods, materials receiving or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must hold valid driver’s license.
