â?¢ Greets walk-in consumers and directs them as needed to appropriate person or office. â?¢ Listens to and anticipates consumer needs; provides clear explanations; responds quickly; takes initiative to assist internal and external consumers. â?¢ Assists with lending library duties (checking in/out materials, assisting consumers, enters library patron information into system) â?¢ Maintains a high level of professionalism when communicating with internal and external consumers; appreciates diversity and respects differences â?¢ Assists Program Specialists and Co-Directors in completing various clerical jobs including copying, typing, preparing mailings, sorting incoming mail, assembling training notebooks. â?¢ Assists with clerical duties related to event planning, submission of consultant contracts, maintaining spreadsheets of participants (Prepares letters, memoranda and other documents; scans documents, converts documents to PDF format, prints files from various sources) â?¢ Possesses knowledge of, or willingness to learn troubleshooting skills with basic office equipment â?¢ Packs and loads training materials in the office (and in vehicles) for transporting to training sites, and makes deliveries (by foot or campus shuttle) within a 2-mile area â?¢ Observes confidentiality and demonstrates an understanding of VCUâ??s Code of Ethics and commitment to integrity and ethical behavior by example in his/her day-to-day activities. â?¢ Uses all office resources, including the telephone, office equipment, electronic communications, and the Internet, in a responsible manner and according to University policies and guidelines â?¢ Limits personal phone calls during working hours â?¢ Completes work with accuracy and minimal supervision â?¢ Completes other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

â?¢ High School Diploma with some college coursework â?¢ Demonstrated knowledge and skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) â?¢ Friendly, approachable â?¢ Excellent organizational skills â?¢ Proficiency in writing and in using correct grammar â?¢ Ability to multi-task and handle numerous requests â?¢ Some background knowledge of, or experience working with individuals with disabilities â?¢ Must be able to travel or work nights/weekends on rare occasions (all employees are notified at least 2 weeks in advance)
