This is a responsible position assisting with recreational programming and activities at various facilities, parks and special events.

DUTIES : Assists with coordination of recreational programming and activities. Provides activity coverage at various parks and facilities, including taking registrations, facility rentals, collecting fees and generating reports. Provides general information to park and facility users. Monitors activities and enforces park and facility rules to ensure a safe environment, including proper protective equipment. Ensures that medical assistance is readily available, including CPR and First Aid, and follows appropriate reporting requirements when necessary. Ensures that participants sign the appropriate waivers. Assists with set up and clean up of play areas, park grounds and facilities. Assists with special events as needed. Employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned, including City directed work assignments in the event of a declared emergency.)

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES and SKILLS : General knowledge of recreational programs and activities. Knowledge of basic office equipment and procedures. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Ability to understand and enforce rules and regulations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, and maintain simple records. Ability to think clearly in emergency situations when necessary. Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.

QUALIFICATIONS : Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. High school seniors who are 18 years of age may be considered. One (1) year of community/customer service or recreation work desirable. Must possess or have the ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within one year of employment. (A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above qualifications.)

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license by date of hire.
