Plans and supervises general recreational programs or assists in the development and administration of a specialized recreation program on a County-wide basis; does related work as required. Essential Duties
Must have extensive knowledge and hands on experience with individuals with a variety of disabilities, as well as skills in adapting activities and/or inclusive settings. Exceptional leadership and supervisory skills and problem solving skills required as well as knowledge in a variety of behavior management techniques. Strong knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of community recreation and specifically of recreation program planning and promotion in the assigned specialty area: good knowledge and understanding of the special needs and interests of the segment of the population served by the assigned program area; ability to effectively plan, implement and coordinate the activities of a specialized recreation program; good organizational skills; skill in research and the ability to evaluate needs and to develop appropriate programming recommendation; extensive supervisory skills, ability to cooperate with and effectively work with public and private organizations and business, civic and volunteer groups and the general citizenry such a parents, ability to work on own initiative without close supervision or guidance; effective oral and written communications skills; ability to keep accurate records; ability to maintain budgetary controls. Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a bachelor's degree in recreation or a field directly related to the needs of the assigned position, and one (1) year of related work experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Additional Information
Tentative Program dates are June 24 - August 16, 2013, including the July 4th Celebration at Meadow Farm.
Orientation is mandatory and is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 17, 2013.
