Performs responsible semiskilled work officiating and supervising various athletic activities; activities may include but are not limited to one of the following: baseball, basketball, football, softball, soccer, or volleyball; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Essential Job Functions*:
Must be physically able to stand, run and walk for extended periods and have the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move equipment and supplies customary and reasonable in a recreation environment. Vocal communication is required for conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. Hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or make fine distinctions in sound. Visual acuity is required for depth perception, peripheral vision, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
Officiate/supervise athletic events to insure all rules and regulations are adhered to and the safety of participants and spectators are protected; Maintain proper records of various athletic activities; Attends rule clinics and successfully completes examination of rules knowledge; Reports to work on assigned duty schedule; Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.
Prepares routine reports accurately and neatly; Assists in field preparation; Communicates final results of athletic activities to local news media and Parks and Recreation Division.

General knowledge and understanding of rules of both the facilities and recreational activity; Ability to use proper judgment of rule interpretations and exemplify good mechanics; Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, general public and media; Ability to maintain accurate records; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and general public.
Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
Special License and Certificates:
Completion of official's training clinic examination.
