Under general direction of the Recreation Superintendent, the Recreation Supervisor assists with professional duties consisting of but not limited to planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and supervising staff with development and implementation of recreation programs.

Essential functions:
Knowledge of:
Basic accounting principles;
Principles and practices of recreation program planning, budgeting, development and administration;
Program evaluation methods and techniques;
Regulatory requirements, negotiating agreements and management principles and practices;
General maintenance and custodial care standards for facilities and equipment, including pool pumps, solar heating system, and pool water chemistry;
Lifeguard, WSI, First Aid and CPR techniques and procedures;
Active or passive recreational activities, such as craft work and organized games and sports;
Methods involved in organizing, conducting, instructing, and supervising a program of special activities;
Current management, leadership and supervisory techniques and practices necessary for the operations of a recreation programs and facilities;
Current practices, principles, procedures, regulations, and techniques of facilities management;
Fiscal management, including budget preparation, expenditure control, and record maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Education : Associate’s Degree in recreation administration, physical education, or closely related field, Bachelor’s desired.
Experience: One (1) year experience in public recreation, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Training/Certifications : Obtain First Aid and CPR Certification within six (6) months of employment; must be able to obtain other certifications needed for position such as: concussion training within one (1) month, and Pool Operators certification within two (2) years.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of the appropriate CO operator’s license for the type of City owned vehicle which the employee may operate in the scope of employment;
