Primary Purpose of Job:
The Purpose of this position is to manage all aspects of recruitment efforts for membership of schools and charities with The Food Bank for New York City. The Recruitment Coordinator will also recruit existing Food Bank members for participation in program initiatives.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of new member recruitment process – including food distribution sites, schools, and non-traditional partners
  • Tailor a recruitment strategy to align with analysis of need and gaps in service
  • Attend external events relevant to successful recruitment of schools and charities
  • Develop and facilitate strong working relationships with school administration and collaborative partners
  • Manage the refinement and implementation of best practices across all components as it pertains to recruitment , enrollment and retention to support program goals and enhance program impact
  • Work with other departments to plan, process, and evaluate recruitment efforts for maximum impact in target demographics
  • Draft, maintain, and update the Food Bank Member Handbook
  • Plan and carry out new member orientation meetings
  • Develop framework for engagement of incoming and current members and partners in all Food Bank programming, including income support, nutrition education, and capacity building
  • Analyze trends
  • Compile reports as required
  • Develop and execute best practices in support of network alignment and expansion
  • Manage enrollment of food distribution sites in Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables nutrition education programming
  • Provide support to Member Services Director to cultivate new relationships with other key stakeholders to advance programmatic objectives
  • Supervise Recruitment Coordinator


  • Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience in program/project management and administration
  • Experience and willingness to work with diverse audiences
  • Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team in a challenging position with constantly changing work environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in all MS office applications required
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages a plus
