The City of Champaign is accepting applications for a Recycling Intern in the Public Works department. As an intern, you will assist in the promotion and communication of community recycling programs. The Recycling Intern will help to develop and distribute promotional and education materials, work directly with citizens and property owners in the implementation of recycling programs, assist with research and monitoring of recycling programs, and other tasks associated with the City's recycling or solid waste management programs.
This position is intended to be a learning opportunity for a college student currently enrolled in a two- or four-year academic program in business, communications, public relations, environmental sciences, or a related field. The successful applicant will have knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs, with some skill using publishing and/or database software preferred. Some related work or volunteer experience in the areas of recycling or solid waste management is helpful, but not required. Possession of a valid Illinois driver's license by the date of employment is required.
The beginning hourly salary is $8.25. Work hours are approximately 10 hours/week; additional hours may be available next Summer 2012. Applications must be received online no later than Sunday, February 24, 2013.
